What Is This?

A simple tool which you can use to perform some "what if" scenarios by putting in game results

Often you are trying to work out what you need to do to make finals or achieve a certain position on the table,

or even just give your team motivation to show them where they will finish if they achieve certain results

This allows you to speculate on the results of the next 2 games in your competition, and see how the total number of

points will change, and therefore your table position based on those results

How does it work?

Based on you selecting the result of a game, by allocating a Win, Loss, Won Outright etc next to a team, a number of points

is allocated to that team. Those points are added to the base set of points you originally enter that the team already has.

What are the Points per result based on?

Based on the rules of .01 of a point per run scored while batting, .20 points per wicket taken.

The number of total points is based on a winning side scoring approximately 220 runs and taking 10-12 wickets of the opposition on average

An outright Win is based on taking all 20 wickets and scoring approx 300 runs

An outright Loss is based on taking 10-15 wickets and scoring 200-250 runs

A Big Win is based on scoring about 300 runs and taking about 15 wickets

What fields can I change?

You can (and have to in order for it to work!) change the names of the teams to suit your grade,

their respective points that they start with (Initial Pts) and the result per team (eg W, BW etc,)

You can also change the number of points allocated to each result, but bear in mind that you will need keep this consistent when

comparing different scenarios. For example you may believe that a "Big Win" will bring 16.5 points

on average, so you can change it as this may have a bearing on final team positions. This would also allow you to

speculate on how many points you need in order to achieve a certain position, so you can work out exactly how

many runs you would need to make or wickets to take

You should also change the "No of Teams" field (B23) to show the No of Teams that qualify for finals in your

competition, as then the teams that are ranked within that number will be highlighted

How do I save my scenarios so I can do others to compare later?

In order to copy and paste your different scenarios, copy the whole table, then click on "Paste Special…" after you've selected where you want to paste it and

select the "Values" radio button and press okay. If you don't do this you'll get a whole heap of "#VALUE" showing in fields because it's trying to use the formulae
